Dan & Grace Mattei are two incredible people. We all first met at Palm Beach Atlantic University through the theatre department, but it wasn't until our time together in A.L.I.C.E. (an improv theatre troupe) did we really become better friends. I still remember one of my first real connections with Grace happened when we improvised a scene where I had was dealing with a huge break up and she was my bestie and I convinced her to chop her hair off with me. It took a minute for our story to get to that point. Since you never know how a scene will go, my stride in the first few seconds apparently made Grace suspect I was getting ready to fight her. But it ended up being so sweet. :) haha. Love her.
I spent a lot of time with Dan when I directed him in Thornton Wilder's Rivers Under the Earth. He was fantastic! Some of my favorite moments we discovered was for him to actually take both of his shoes and socks off at one point and dip his feet in imaginary lake water. He has great instincts!
These too dears currently live in Phoenix, Arizona and are working hard but striving harder to develop their gifts and passions. You can check out Grace's blog which is super adorable here.
I painted this piece for them as a special wedding gift. This is not something I do very often, but they hold a very special place in my heart. And the photo I used by Shea Christine Photography was way too beautiful to pass up! Their love is so evident, its inspiring :)
