Last February, Rachel & Micah hosted the wedding of Eric & Cristina White in their home in Palm Beach Gardens. Cristina & Eric approached me about gifting Rachel & Micah with a painting that would serve as a thank you for their hospitality and also a memorial of the special day.
Since there were no photos in existence that captured what Cristina & Eric were hoping for, I decided to piece individual images of Rachel and Micah from the past and an out-of-focus image of the background from the actual wedding day. The task proved harder than I had anticipated for sure! I quickly learned, after 15+ hours of painting that there is a careful correlation (proportion) between the camera lens phenomenon of out-of-focus light spheres, and an in-focus subject matter. I remedied my error by making Micah & Rachel much closer (larger) in the composition, and shrinking and softening the colorful light spheres in the background. I also painted Rachel & Micah in the clothes they were wearing on the White's wedding day :)
Since I am close with the White couple and actually participated in their wedding day, I am very happy to have had a hand in thanking the lovely Micah & Rachel Smith for their generous hospitality and love.
