You may recognize this series if you have been following any of my previous work. I did a series called "Floating" as a wall mural and also as a "mini-series" on 4- 8X10 canvases. I changed the name because in this particular rendition, the flowers and leaves flow left to right, and are actually in the process of forming the tree. And actually, before explaining any further I have to be honest and confess that Derrick Collins, the commissioner of this piece was so taken by the original series, that while discussing his interpretation of it, he made the artistic choice of leaving the right 1/3 of the fourth painting as a rough sketch. He suggested that it implied a work in progress, which is pretty reflective of people and life in general.
Since the piece is hanging on the wall in his work space, I thought the WIP theme even more appropriate.
Here are some close ups of each canvas in the series, starting with the canvas on the left.
Special thanks to Derrick for his support and enthusiasm, and also for being my first long-distance commissioner!
