Luisel Lawler is the Discipleship Director at Grace Fellowship, but more importantly, she is my mother. She commissioned me to create a prayer garden mural on the wall in her office.
I am excited to say this is an extremely original piece! Based on the the vision of Luisel, I added in elements like the lavender field, the sunrise, the stone wall and especially the cross on the hill.
It was fun as a painter to rise to the challenge of the long cast shadows of an early morning sunrise. I also favored the weeping willow and its reflection on the pong.
Another challenge in this piece was the varied distances contained in one picture. The english garden flowers are the closest to the "window" and the sky and looming mountains in the distance are the furthest. The stone path that transitions to a dirt path helps to connect the two.
